Considering Botox?

If you are considering using Botox, you should look at the potential injection risks, Botox risks, and other possible side effects or complications. Though the vast majority of patients have delightful results, the unwanted side-effects of Botox procedures can be disfiguring, dangerous and troublesome.

Some Important Considerations
It is also important to know that just because a friend or family member had a cosmetic facial done and it went fine, this does not mean you'll get similar results.

The most common Botox risks
1. If Botox is injected too close to your upper eyelids, there is the risk that temporary upper eyelid droop may be a consequence; this is something which can take months to improve.

2. There is also the possibility of allergic reaction, which again is quite small but still must be taken into consideration.

3. If you are pregnant or nursing, there are certain injection risks that are extremely important, and so if you are thinking about having any sort of Botox procedure done, then it would be most wise to wait until after your child is born and until you are no longer breast feeding.

Do Your Homework
To learn more about the potential risks and if you are more at risk for them, consult with your physician. They can help you to learn if you are a good candidate for this type of procedure.

Too Much Sun, Ya Think?

Sun Screens -- How To Read The Labels

SPF (Sun Protection Factor)
The SPF is a number that tells you how much longer a sunscreen will keep you from burning over no protection at all. For example, if you began to burn (turn pink) in 15 minutes, a SPF 20 would shield you 20 times longer (300 minutes) before you start to burn.

UVA
Ultraviolet rays is the sun rays that penetrate deep into the skin. They can cause photoaging and skin cancer.

UVB
They rays are shorter than UVAs and affect the outer layer of skin. They are responsible for sunburns and also contribute to skin cancer.

Water-resistant
Water-resistant means the sunscreen effective after 40 minutes immersed in water. Very water-resistant sunscreens remain effective after 80 minutes.

Waterproof
Do not believe a sunscreen that says it is waterproof. The term "waterproof" is not true according to the FDA. They have suggested the term be removed from sunscreen labels.
